Finally I am not an idiot. I have to read everything on the page though. Here are the waving lace socks.
On the gusset I did a tbl on every other row and it gave it a distinctive look that I really liked. When I tried them on it didn't feel any different and as far as holding up I think that it will be fine.

I'm just starting the Waving Lace socks. I'm knitting mine with Claudia Hand Painted yarn in the Lemon Ice colorway. I'm an experienced sockknitter but these will only be my 2nd lace socks.
Somewhere along the way, Grumpernia, I think and her "picking up stitches the pretty way", I began to knit just the picked up gusset stitches tbl on the first round after the stitches were picked up. It seems to tighten the whole thing up. After that one round I go back to knitting as usual.
